A visit to the magical Roaring Water Bay area with sea and Lough views. Leaving Skibbereen visit the historic Drishane with its Somerville and Ross connections, take a trip around Lough Hyne and the tranquil Rosewood garden, have lunch at award winning cafe and gardens at The Glebe and spend the afternoon walking around the extensive island estate at Inish Beg, followed by cake and tea.
Start at Skibbereen and head east on N71 toward Castletownshend.
Turn left onto R596 and arrive at Drishane House, Co. Cork, Ireland.
11km 12 minutes
From Drishane head northwest on Cross St/R596 and continue to follow R596 to Lough Hyne. At the lough (taking in the views and maybe stopping for a stroll) 12 km and 18 minutes. Coming up from Lough Hyne (heading for Baltimore) pass up through hairpin bends and at the top of the hill you will see a signpost for Baltimore. Follow this sign and Rosewood House is second on the right. ‘Rosewood’ is written on the entrance wall.
To The Glebe
From Rosewood continue west to reach the R595, and turn left towards Baltimore. As you turn into Baltimore Glebe Gardens is no the left. 15 minutes.
To Inish Beg
After lunch and a trip around the Glebe, head back towards Skibbereen. After just 4 miles Inish beg estate is signposted to the left.
