Kinalea is situated on a lovely elevated one acre site overlooking the Bandon River. The garden is laid out in three lawns, two front and one back. The front has a woodland feel, with a mixture of deciduous & evergreen trees. Larch, Oak & Beech frame the selection of ornamental shrubs (Camellia, Rhododendron, Magnolia) as well as many rare trees and all sheltered by colourful conifers & heathers.
To the rear of the house is a large horseshoe shaped lawn with mixed perennial beds. In the centre of the lawn is a new alpine stone built curved rockery which echoes the shape of the flower beds. To the right hand side of the lawn there is a mixed rose bed with flowers & shrubs, leading you on to a wooden swing garden seat surrounded by ferns & shade loving plants. This stepping stone path invites you to continue and enjoy the mixed border of Acers, Hostas, & Grasses. On the left hand side there is the main large colourful cottage garden border edged by striking rust coloured Day Lilys in summer.
And hidden away to the extreme left there is sunken zen patio garden surrounded by rare & delicate trees & plants, including Traccarpus Fan Tree, Acer, Caster oil, & many more. The path then leads you on through a mixed canopy of bamboo plants.
