THE OCEAN GARDENS @ DUNMORE HOUSE

The Ocean Gardens at Dunmore House

The gardens sit on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, directly on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Dunmore House

There are two main areas.  The first is the Cliff Garden which incorporates gravelled walkways, hammock area, outdoor sculpture by artist Moss Gaynor and restful seating areas hidden amidst rolling dune grasses with coastal and native planting.  The Cliff Garden offers panoramic views over Clonakilty Bay.

The Organic Kitchen Garden, a gentle stroll from the Cliff Garden, has polytunnels, extensive outdoor raised bed areas with culinary herbs, seasonal salads and edible flowers.  Our Horticulturalist Louise uses permaculture principles with a dedicated organic and active composting area using seaweed and other natural manures.  Companion planting is used to increase fertility and to assist with biodiversity in this exciting and innovative garden.

Visitors can also enjoy the Sea Terrace, spectacular hydrangeas and planted areas around Dunmore House.

Special Features
